The Project “Actions for the Lifting of Obstacles Regarding the Socially Excluded Group’s Social Integration and Labour Incorporation” is implemented within the framework of the Operational Programme “Health-Welfare 2000-2008”, Axis 1 “Health”, Measure 4 “Development of Public Health”. It involves people and agencies from the region of Central Macedonia / Greece. It aims at the development of an integrated and person-centered approach to issues related with the socio-economic inclusion or reintegration of people which experience exclusion or face the risk of exclusion from the labour market on the grounds of certain physical, cultural and social particularities.

The integrated intervention addresses three levels:

  1. employees of Health, Welfare and Employment Promotion agencies with the intention to upgrade the provided services,

  2. socially vulnerable groups which experience or face the risk of social exclusion from the labour market, while emphasis is stressed on their empowerment in order to foster their active participation for labour and social (re-)integration,
  1. work places where socially vulnerable people work, with the intention to eliminate discriminations of colleagues and employers and to create conditions for equal treatment.

Inparallel, the building blocks of the Project involve:

- The promotion and demonstration of values and life stances which contribute to the improvement of life and well-being of citizens,

- The activation and mobilization of participants as well as the public at large,

- The promotion of collective activities which intend to lift the processes which lead to social exclusion,

- The support of practices based on solidarity, self-help and self-management within specific target groups,

- The promotion of bonding, cooperation and networking among services and their employees with the intention to improve their efficiency regarding the support of socially excluded groups.
